Use an image showing children in traditional attire celebrating or in a classroom setting. Ideally, the image should depict joy, unity, and cultural identity—preferably from Benue or rural Nigeria.
As Nigeria celebrated Children’s Day on May 27, 2025, leaders across the country took time to honor the nation’s youngest citizens. Among them was Hon. Ikong, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, representing Oju II State Constituency, who extended a heartfelt message to children nationwide.
“Children are the leaders of tomorrow. We must nurture them, protect them, and ensure they grow in an environment of love, learning, and opportunity,” Hon. Ikong said.
In his remarks, Hon. Ikong thanked God for His divine protection over Nigerian children and reiterated his dedication to supporting policies and programs that uplift and empower young people.
He further emphasized the need for collective responsibility in ensuring the well-being of children, particularly in rural and underdeveloped communities, urging parents, guardians, and policymakers to play active roles in shaping the next generation.
“You Can Be Anything” – Encouragement from Hon. Ogewu
Also commemorating the day, Hon. David Ogewu, another key voice from the Benue region, took to social media to encourage children to believe in their potential:
“Dear children, believe in yourselves, work hard, and never let life’s obstacles break your spirit. You can be anything you want to be.”
